Why are those lights flashing?

I recently had to change some settings on my ADSL modem, but had forgotten the password, so I reset it.

I got it all working again quick enough, but since then, I’ve noticed the lights flashing a lot. When I’m using the computer I expect that. But it’s been happening while the computer is idle. Just now, I noticed there was nothing running on the computer, but the little modem lights were going flat out. I ran netstat and it said nothing was running. Even zone alarm said there was no traffic. So what’s with the lights?

I logged into the modem (yes, I remembered the password this time) and had a look. I’d left the wireless networking enabled and unprotected!

The scrotum who lives next door has probably been leeching my bandwidth for the last two weeks!

Wireless networking now *disabled* and encryption *enabled*.

Now, now do I retaliate?

Google Art

I wish I found out about this earlier, but apparently Google Maps is doing a fly over of Australia today (Australia Day) for more map data.

Here’s an article about a bunch of people who made some Google Art for the satellites to capture. Is it too late to do this in Oz?
