The helicopter -> car conversion
May 4th, 2008
So you know the helicopter I bough some time ago? (http://www.byteclub.net/blog/pimaster/perm/2007/10/14/yet-another-helicopter/)
A friend brought his around and it just showed mine up. Carbon fibre blades. Full metal body. And he could fly it.
So I let him fly mine, but he crashed it. Some quick repairs so it would “work” and it crashed again. Basically my helicopter wasn’t up to standard.
I had an old RC car that no longer worked (Why did I keep an RC car for 15 years if it didn’t work.. shrugs) and I now had some working motors and a working control. So I thought I would combine the two.

1: The helicopter battery
2: The reciever
3: A servo that controlled pitch (now steering)
I’m using the original drive motor cause when I applied power to it, it didn’t smell like it was burning. Plus it made it easy to convert.
A helicopters main rotor doesn’t have reverse. So neither does this car. A major problem at this point since I keep running into things ![]()

But pictures do not show how cool this car has become. Here is some indoor “racing” with the rear tires off.
In the first movie, we thought “How cool would it be if the camera was on the car”. So here is that too.
